Our User-Owned Database, Secured & Supported by Supabase
To support transparency, accountability, and engagement, our User-Owned Database for public comments is powered by Supabase.
Below is a explanation of what that means and how your data is handled.
Supabase is an open-source backend platform that provides secure databases, authentication, and access controls. It is built on proven, widely used technologies (notably PostgreSQL) and is designed to give communities and organizations direct control over their data, rather than locking it inside proprietary systems.
Open source: The core technology is publicly auditable.
Standards-based: Uses PostgreSQL, a trusted relational database.
Security-first: Fine-grained access rules and encryption.
Data portability: Data can be exported or migrated without vendor lock-in.
The User-Owned Database contains public comments and related metadata submitted through the platform, such as:
The content of your public comment
The time and context in which it was submitted
Non-sensitive identifiers needed to support moderation and transparency
We do not sell this data, and we do not use it for advertising or commercial profiling.
Current Status: Testing & Pilot Phase
